No, you’re not just imagining it, Nevadans. A lot of people are actually moving into the Silver State. Nevada ranked high in two annual mover studies once again — nabbing the top spot in one of them.
Nevada ranked No. 1 in the 2018 Atlas Van Lines Migration Patterns study, two steps up from the third-place finish it earned in the same study in 2017. The state also ranked No. 4 in the 2018 National Movers Study by United Van Lines, the same position it received the previous year.
Nevada earned the top spot in the Atlas study after posting a 68 percent rate for inbound moves, compared to 32 percent of moving activity being represented by outbound movers. It is the second year in a row Nevada had more people moving into the state than residents leaving to move somewhere else.
Before that, Nevada was rated as a “balanced” state — meaning inbound and outbound moves were roughly equal — from 2009 to 2016.
Here are the top five states for inbound moves last year, according to the 2018 Atlas Van Lines study:
1 Nevada(67.8percent)
2 Idaho(66.2percent)
3 NorthCarolina(62.6percent)
4 New Hampshire (57.3 percent)
5 Tennessee(57.2percent)
